Transferring Ownership of Drive Contents

Transferring Ownership of Drive Contents allows you to transfer one user drive content to another user in your organization. This will make the other user the new owner of all of the files in the drive, however, the original owner will still have permission to the files but as an editor. The folder structure from the original drive will be maintained after the transfer, but it will be nested in a folder that is automatically created and will be named after the original owner's email.

Can only transfer a drive to one user at a time. Before you begin a transfer it is not required to pull all file drives for the whole drive content to transfer. If the transfer is successful then the person who invoked the transfer will receive an email that the transfer is complete. If the transfer fails then the transfer will stop and the person who invoked the transfer will receive an email stating that the transfer has failed. All the remaining files will stay with the original owner.

The transfer speed for a drive will vary depending on the size of the drive. A drive of 2,125 will take about 10 minutes to fully transfer over while a drive that has 11,000 files takes about an hour.

Following this process:

  1. Click on Storage on the left navigation menu.
  2. Select the user who drives content you want to transfer.
  3. Click Transfer Ownership of Drive Contents.
  4. Enter the new desired user email.
  5. Click Save.
